Trip to Durban: 26-30 Jun 06

ok all... here are the pics of my trip to Durban when I returned to South Africa from Singapore.... it was literally "hit the ground running"..... landed in South Africa at 7am... went back home to re-pack for the trip... and was on the road again at 11am for a 6hr drive.... here are some pics on the trip...

on the road again... with my trusty roadmap and handphone... just in case we got lost....

nothing but open road.... another 500km to go....

rest stop for the first night.... in Pietermaritzburg, the administrative capital of KwaZulu-Natal province.... name of the hotel is "Hotel Imperial". It comes under this chain of hotels called Protea.... decent hotel, but nothing amazing....it was an old hotel that had been refurbished recently.. but it still maintained its old look.... here are some additional pics on the hotel to show you what I mean....



Here is a pic of the police station that was facing the hotel... pretty grand looking police station....

anyway, spent only one day in Pietermaritzburg... and was on the way to Durban... heard so much about the sunny weather and nice beaches in Durban... was really looking forward to getting there.....

True enough, when we got into Durban.. the weather was indeed nicer and warmer than in Pretoria/ Joburg.... the city also gave a more bustling vibe compared to Pretoria.... was told that if I found Durban nice, then I should really make my way to Cape Town........ so, anyway, we got into Durban, and checked into Hilton.... one of the more modern-looking hotels in Durban... here is the view from the "Club Room" meant for the executive-level guests (i.e. not me...)
