Year-end break in Cape Town

Finally, I managed to take some time to go to Cape Town... Decided to make the trip down with my parents and spend this xmas weekend holidays there... Anyway, as the journey there is approx 1500km, I decided to take 2 days leave to make the journey there.... so, I was away from the office from 22 Dec 06 to 27 Dec 06. Since I have been here, I have been repeatedly told that Cape Town is very scenic and I had to go down to see for myself.... Anyway, I am not much for words, so maybe my pictures can do a better job.... hopefully...

A train speeding across the countryside.....

could only get this pic when we were passing through the junction along the N1, where u can wither go to Port Elizabeth or to Cape Town.. depending on which fork you take...

There are miles and miles of wine country when u are nearing Cape Town... Many different wine estates there.... should go down there if you are wine freak... hehe...

Approaching Cape Town... U can see Table Mountain on the right....

the hotel that we stayed in Cape Town..., not too bad... R880 per night for a small apartment (double bed, living room, kitchen, and toilet)... Its also located quite near the V&A Waterfront (which is the main shopping area in Cape Town)...

view from the room in the day...

View @ night

We went to a flea market on xmas eve.... and my mom bought a few locally made plates...

part of the local wares that they were selling at the flea market..

There was this weirdly dressed man at the flea market.. shouting in song "Wele-Come... Wele-Come.... Wele-Come to Africa.... South Africa....". It was quite hilarious... so, decided to sneak a shot at him...

Touchdown....

The scenary at Cape Point is simply amazing... If you are ever in Cape Town, do take the journey down to Cape Point... Its only an hour drive away... and there's lots to see and its also a very relaxing drive as well...

Still have more pics that I have not uploaded yet... maybe the above shots are sufficient for the timebeing... will upload them later when I have transferred them to my comp...
