Visit to Drakensburg

Was tired of being in the city, and decided that I needed to get out of it... so, asked my parents if they were keen on taking a drive to this place called Drakensburg... which is a mountainous region about 400km away.... which isnt too far by South African standards.... only about a 4 hour drive....

well, they were up for it... so we left at about 9am and started making our journey there.... the drive was not too difficult, as the road networks in South Africa are quite good... and it was not too hot a day for a drive either... We passed through this place called "Little Switzerland"... and the view was amazing... simply breathtaking... one must take a drive there to see it.... also entered a Dam site on the way there, called Sterkfontain Dam.... nice and serene place....

So, we got there about 1plus and decided to just check into a resort hotel at the Royal Natal National Park in Northern Drakensburg... the Hotel was called "Mont Aux Sources Resort".. not bad accommodation... we managed to get the last chalet... and it was only R1050 per night (which is about S$230)... for three people, I thought it was not bad... had a nice moderate sized chalet all to ourselves.....

Anyhow, the whole idea was to get out of the city, and spend some quiet time with my parents... so, overall, I think it was a good experience.... am planning to take them elsewhere this coming weekend again...

We left back for Pretoria on Sunday morning.. and got back home at about 12ish.... invited Rebecca and her boyfriend, Reuben, and her parents over for dinner.... they had just arrived on Saturday and were heading back to Newcastle (in South Africa) on Monday...... so, we detoured to Bruma (Johannesburg) to buy some groceries.... and went home after that to prepare for dinner.... Dinner was good..... and we all had a good time chatting.... unfortaunately, I forgot to take pictures of the dinner..... maybe next time...
